TOSH has consistently ranked 2nd in the State of California for overall patient satisfaction based on survey data collected by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The Hospital CAHPS (HCAHPS) survey implemented by CMS collects data on measures that reflect:
- Communication with doctors and nurses
- Receiving help from hospital staff
- Communication about new medicines
- Pain Control
- Room and bathroom cleanliness
- Quietness
- Discharge instructions
- Overall hospital experience
Letter from our CEO
Welcome to Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital (TOSH). I’m Bob Shaw, the CEO of the facility and I would like to introduce you to this exceptional hospital.
TOSH is licensed as a general, acute-care hospital and is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The 50,000 square-foot, two-story hospital consists of 21 private inpatient rooms, six operating rooms, one cystoscopy operating room, eight pre-operative rooms, 13 recovery bays and three private recovery rooms. This unique facility and its staff provide a hospitality-inspired, healing environment containing guest amenities such as restaurant-like meals and private suites featuring a sleeper sofa for visitors. To better care for our patients, TOSH also offers a nurse to patient ratio that averages better than the state mandated ratios.
The Medical Staff is open to many surgical specialties and consulting medical specialties. This allows the hospital to provide a full range of multi-specialty inpatient and outpatient services including: anesthesiology, clinical laboratory, dietary, ear, nose and throat surgery, general surgery, bariatrics/weight loss surgery, gynecology, neurosurgery, nursing, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pain management, physical therapy, plastic surgery, podiatry, radiology, skull base surgery, spine surgery, total joint surgery, uro-gynecology, and urology. TOSH accepts all forms of insurance payment including Medicare, private commercial insurance including HMO and PPO products, personal injury and Workers Compensation.
TOSH is extremely proud of its #2 ranking in the State of California and #1 ranking in Southern California for overall patient satisfaction (see sidebar). We feel that our patient-centered approach to healthcare and the soothing environment we provide are the key components to our patients’ satisfaction. Our patient satisfaction surveys continue to reflect that our patients would choose TOSH for their surgical needs over any other hospital and would refer TOSH to friends and family who need care.
