Q.   When did the hospital open?

A.  Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital opened January, 2005.

 

Q. Are surgical hospitals more expensive than traditional hospitals?

A.  No. Surgical hospitals center on a specific service: surgical services for elective surgery patients.  Because the services they provide are focused, surgical hospitals are able to provide superior and more efficient service at no additional cost to patients or insurance companies. In addition, Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital has made investments in technology, equipment, systems and people that enable us to achieve remarkable efficiencies in our delivery of quality patient care.

 

Q. Is the hospital considered to be a "surgicenter"?

A.  No. Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital is licensed by the State of California as a general acute care hospital. The hospital offers a full range of both inpatient and outpatient surgical services.

 

Q. Are patients limited to a 72-hour hospital stay?

A.  No. There is no limitation on a patient's length of stay but most patients will only spend two to four nights in the hospital.

 

Q. What kind of insurance does the hospital accept?

A.  Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital accepts many forms of insurance payment including Medicare, private commercial insurance (HMO and PPO plans) and Workers' Compensation.

 

Q. Do I have to share a room with another patient?

A.  No. All of the inpatient rooms are private and feature a sleeper sofa for guests.

 

Q. What services are not provided?

A.  Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital services do not include obstetrics procedures, cardiac surgery, intensive care and emergency care.

 

Q. What if I need an MRI or CT Scan?

A.  These types of services are conveniently located on the hospital campus.

 

Q. Which physicians will be practicing at the hospital?

A.  The Medical Staff is open to physicians that qualify for privileges within the scope of services provided, including all surgical specialties and consulting medical specialties. To see a list of physicians currently on staff click here.

 

Q. What is the nurse to patient ratio?

A.  The hospital offers a nurse to patient ratio that averages well below the state mandated ratios of one registered nurse to five patients.

 

Q.   How is the hospital different from other facilities?

A.  Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital seeks to create a unique health care experience - for the individuals we serve and the people who serve them. Private suites feature amenities such as 27" screen televisions, DVD/VCR players, book and video libraries, and large, private bathrooms, stocked with plush towels, bathrobes and specialty bath products. Private rooms also include sleeper sofas that allow guests to stay at the side of their loved ones throughout the night.
